| About | UCR Botanic Gardens is Nestled in the foothills of the Box Springs Mountains, the UC Riverside. It is a 40 acre garden of living nature with over 3,500 species of plants and thousands of displays worldwide. The varying elevation and geology of the Gardens and Riverside's subtropical climate establish various microclimates allowing for notable plant diversity and an abundance of wildlife. The Gardens aims to provide many plant resources for UCR and other local school courses. The Gardens also contain plant materials for different research projects and help test and display introduced plant species from all parts of the globe. One-third of the Gardens' 40 acres remain unplanted and consist of native plant communities, including coastal sage scrub and annual grassland. |
