AboutUniversity of Wisconsin Geology Museum is a geology and paleontology museum housed in the southwest part of the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus. The tours are about an hour long and include hundreds of rock and mineral specimens, a black light fossil exhibit and dinosaur fossils, and Ice Age creatures. A significant portion of the items, including bones of General Sherman's horse, were lost during the disastrous 1884 fire. It provides over 120,000 specimens used in education and research, both geological and paleontology. Their museum employees research the history, evolution, and complexity of the Earth's geological record and share these new findings with their communities through their exhibitions, services, and publications. They can also know more about the preservation of history and specimen conservation. The museum provides complimentary entry.
