AboutPenshaw Monument is on top of Penshaw Hill and is seventy-foot high. The monument was designed by Benjamin Green and John and built by Thomas Pratt of Bishopwearmouth using local gritstone. It is a replica of the Temple of Hephaestus with panoramic countryside views. It is the most beloved landmark in Wearside. Penshaw Monument also provides plenty of scopes to extend into a large walk through the woods. Visitors can also enjoy the panoramic views from the top. You can visit several gardens, parks, cafés, coastal and rural sites, and some houses. Free parking is available outside of it.
