About | Lions of the Great War is a war memorial in Sandwell. It is a beautiful bronze statue of Sikh soldiers. It is named in honour of the British Indian Army Sikh soldiers who served in the First World War. Lions of the Great War, established in 2018, tell the hundred-year partnership between Sandwell Council and Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick. The site is also home to the Boulton and Watt governor and water fountain. A green space, a fountain and a seating area surrounds the memorial. It has seating areas near both the statue and water feature. The site is completely maintained by volunteers from Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick. |
