About	Smeaton's Tower is one of the city's most prominent landmarks. The Tower is a memorial to civil engineer John Smeaton, the third and most notable Eddystone Lighthouse designer. You can climb 93 steps to the lantern room, at the top, to enjoy the beautiful views. It offers excellent views of Plymouth Sound and beyond. The Tower has been an important safety feature of the coast of Plymouth at Eddystone Rock. The Tower also affords a tour option that gives the entire history of the Tower, the living conditions, and the designer. Smeaton's Tower is situated right in the middle of Hoe Park.
