About | Flint Castle is a famous location of a fateful meeting between Richard II and his crown rival Henry Bolingbroke in 1399. The castle and its earthworks were built using local Millstone Grit ashlar and sandstone by 1,800 labourers and masons. The castle is dominated by the great tower at its southeast corner. They have abbeys, churches and chapels and some of the most atmospheric ancient monuments that visitors have sought for thousands of years. It was one of the first castles King Edward l had built in Wales. Flint Castle is an excellent place for fog walkers and is accessible. It offers free admission. |
