| About | St Andrews Castle' is the collapse of the castle of the Archbishops of St Andrews. Their castle has the underground of 16th-century with countermine and siege mine. Their castle has a bottle dungeon which is one of the most infamous castle prisons in medieval Britain. Their city's castle is the primary residence of the bishops. Castle was designed to allow the structure to withstand an attack by heavy artillery. St Andrews castle had two enormous circular gun towers, and the guns were positioned on top of that wall. Some of the best surviving carved fragments from the castle are displayed in the centre, which also has a shop. Historic Environment Scotland now maintains the castle's grounds as a scheduled monument. |
