The Bahu Fort is towering and sturdy on the left bank of the Tawi River, only 5 kilometres from the city's heart. This majestic fort was built over 3000 years ago by Raja Bahucholan, and it is one of the city's oldest landmarks. The fort was then renovated and enlarged by the Dogra kings. The Goddess Kali shrine is also well-known at this fort. Goddess Kali, a reincarnation of Goddess Parvati and a powerful emblem of motherly love boosted by insurmountable feminine energy, is worshipped by the people of Jammu. A temple devoted to the great Goddess Kali can be seen inside the Bahu Fort. Bave Wali Mata Shrine is how the people refer to this temple. |
