| About | Arulmigu Manakula Vinayagar Temple is one of the popular old temples in Puducherry. The temple is a popular pilgrimage site and tourist destination in Puducherry. During 1700 French banned the performance of poojas and festivals in the temple, particularly on Fridays. The golden chariot was made purely based on donations collected from devotees. The temple's unique character is that the devotees come from all religions. Devotees use butter, honey, milk, curd, fruit juices, Sanka (conch shells), Swarna (gold), and kalasas (holy pots) to perform abishegam to the Lord. The Lord Manakula Vinayagar Mega Festival is celebrated during August and September for 24 days each year. |
