About	Dr. Rodney Schmelzer is board-certified in plastic surgery. He obtained his MD degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1997. After medical school, he completed his General/Plastic Surgery residency at Barnes Jewish Hospital, Washington University in St. Louis. He received several awards from The Cleft Palate Foundation in 2001, including the Washington University School of Medicine Resident of the Year and the Junior Research Grant. He is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), American Society of Craniofacial Surgeons, The Plastic Surgery Research Council, American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association, American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
