| About | San Antonio Zoo is a non-profit organization that was founded to secure a future for wildlife. It was founded in 1914, and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums granted it accreditation. The zoo has a diverse collection of animals on 56 acres, with 750 species and 34 accessible trails. It offers all visitors a dynamic educational atmosphere and a high-quality leisure experience. It boasts over 8,500 animals and is an excellent place for the whole family to have fun. This zoo hosted the first cageless exhibits in the United States in 1929, and it now houses one of the world's largest bird collections. It has over 1,000,000 visitors every year.
