| About | The American Windmill Museum's educational mission is to help a wide range of audiences learn about how people have used and continue to use human creativity to use the wind to survive in various environments. It is widely known as the place to go to see windmills. The museum features more than 160 American-style windmills. Before establishing the museum, the collections were kept in storage until 1997, when the city of Lubbock approved a site for the museum. The collection was transferred to this new location by Harris and volunteers. On the grounds and within a small display house, windmills were erected. Visitors can explore the more than a hundred rare and historic water-pumping windmills that are displayed within the museum. The American Windmill Museum affords children aged under five. |
