AboutThe National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus is preserving the story of marines and sailors in the Civil War. It is sitting in Columbus, Georgia, and overlooks the Chattahoochee River. It houses the biggest surviving Confederate warship, the CSS Jackson, and the wreckage of the CSS Chattahoochee. The exhibits have a full-scale model of the USS Monitor's famous turret, a replica of the USS Hartford with its berth deck, captain's cabin, wardroom, an actual cutter or "ship's boat" and an immersive scenic dockside show recreating Plymouth, completed with an exterior/interior view of the CSS Albemarle. Its timeline exhibits include many of the museum's most rare items, which take you month by month through the battle, showcasing naval activities. It also has the most extensive collection of Civil War Naval-related flags. You can get the rental space for your meeting, reunion, birthday party, or retirement ceremony. It affords free admission is open for children under 6.
