About | Spanish Governor’s Palace is a landmark of national history in the town of San Antonio. The building was constructed in the early 18th century. The palace was the main commandant for the military garrison’s captains from 1722 to the early 1800s. The rooms at this palace are decorated with objects from the Spanish Colonial period and featured with beautifully landscaped courtyard gardens. It has a typical Spanish colonial atmosphere; the courtyard is surrounded by stucco-stoned walls and has an open arched patio. The Presidio San Antonio de Bexar’s last visible trace is the only remaining example of an aristocratic Spanish Colonial townhouse in Texas. It affords free admission for children (under age 7). |
