About	'Matthew Jones House' is a historic plantation house situated in Newport News. The house is located on a hill toward the northern end of Mulberry Island, overlooking the James River. Its design emulates that of the small English mansion houses of the previous century. The Virginia Historic Landmark and a Historic American Building, created as an architectural museum house revealing three historical periods, have 90 architectural characteristics labeled as teaching points. The collections also highlight the story of Mulberry Island.
