About | North Point Water Tower is an iconic tower overlooking North Avenue from the east end of Lake Michigan. It was built in 1873 and 1874 as part of Milwaukee. The tower was built with Victorian Gothic styling and cover over an open standpipe that absorbed water pulsations from steam engines in the pumping station below the hill. The tower is made of the Hiram and Horace Story Quarry cream-colored cut limestone. It was one of the key works of the initial water supply scheme supplying 16 million gallons of water a day for Milwaukee. Visitors can Walk around the tower's center, across the four 'long, 135' high iron storage tank. |
