About | Anchorage Museum is the largest museum in the state and sits on the traditional homeland of the Dena'ina Eklutna. The museum was established in 1968 and is a community-oriented museum with the Smithsonian Arctic Studies Unit, a realistic science exploration centre. This place produces a vibrant, insightful view of the human experience and offers anything for all. The museum is dedicated to recognizing and honouring the people of Dena'ina soil, cultures, and languages. They bring up North artistic practice, culture, and science with links to places, ideas, and individuals worldwide. Experts provide the backdrop for Alaska and the North's history, literature, science, and technology. It has collections of 2,500 historical and ethnographic items on loan from the local historical society. It has a collection of 25,000 objects and 500,000 historic photographs. The 5,000 square feet make space for more galleries, the back-of-house, and the library. |
