The park starts from Shepherd Drive to Sabine Street between Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive. The park has walking, running, or cycling along the waterway and features several parks and historic areas. It has over 400 public car park spaces that are available on weekends. The general American site temporarily offers free parking for park visitors on weekends. Buffalo Bayou Park can rent bikes, kayaks, and canoes are permitting.
