About	Franklin Mountains State Park is the largest city wilderness area in the western United States, with mountains ranges that chronicle 1.25 billion years of world history. It consists of approximately 26,000 acres of wilderness and provides outstanding hiking, bird watching, paragliding, rock climbing opportunities as a school for children aged 1 to 99. The park is a fantastic location for family reunions and fitness training grounds with more than 100 miles of trail across the lawn, bridging classroom discussions with nature's tangible qualities as a tranquil getaway from the area. Tourists can enjoy the weather with temperatures ranging from winter months, 32F to 60F, and summer temperature ranges ranging from 68F to 95F. It covers nearly 27,000 acres (approximately 40 square miles) on over 100 miles of trail. Guided tours and hikes are available for each month's first and third weekends. The parks afford free admission for children age 12 and under.
