| About | Amherst State Park covers about 77 acres of State-owned land and approximately 3 acres of Town-owned property. The land also includes wooded areas, meadows, ancient orchards, and formally landscaped grounds. Inside the park adjacent to Reist Street was the former Reist Mill, a locally named historic building. The main access point is in Amherst, at 400 Mill Lane. State Park provides access to creaks and short walking paths. For exercise, you can ride in or walk around. It offers many opportunities to fish within the boundaries of the park. Picnicking with family and small groups, bird watching, fishing, cycling, jogging, dog walking, and several other passive recreational activities are all common in the park. The park also has large fields to let pets run around. |
