About	Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption was built-in 1971. The new St. Mary's Cathedral is the third such church to serve the San Francisco Archdiocese. Old St. Mary's, built-in 1854, is situated at Grant Avenue on California Lane. Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption reflects an exciting mix of traditional and modern styles of architecture. The pastor of the Salvatore J. Cordileone was born on 5 June 1956 in San Diego to Leon and Mary Cordileone, who raised their children in the Church of the Blessed Sacraments.
