About	St. Mary's Cathedral is both a parish and base for Archdiocesan events. The church provides informative public lectures on Catholicism, and historical, philosophical, literary, and community study groups cultivate parishioners' faith and academic lives. The church was renovated for the 150th anniversary of the Portland Archdiocese in 1996. St. Mary's Cathedral prays that christ guides their civic leaders to work for the protection of all human life. The cathedral is also a parish church, and as such, it is home to its parishioners and a welcoming place for all visitors. The church stained glass windows in the transept date from one of the earlier cathedrals. Its stations of the cross and the povey brother's dome above the altar date from 1926. St. Mary's Cathedral has participated in the Liturgy and Celebration of the Sacraments, Faith Formation, Service to the Poor, and Campus Ministry.
