About	Duke University Chapel is one of the oldest historical churches in Durham. The church cornerstone was laid on October 22, 1930. The Chapel was first used for Ceremony in 1932 and was formally dedicated on June 2, 1935. The church has seventy-seven windows and those windows represent biblical characters and stories. The church upper windows of the nave and chancel are devoted to the Hebrew Scriptures and lower windows of the aisles illustrate the Christian Scriptures’ New Testament stories. The glass is stained by using a technique called pot metal glass, which makes for rich colors. The church features more than one million pieces of glass, varying in thickness were used to create the windows. The church two large transept windows and the great altar window contain prominent figures from the Bible.
