About	Dr. Jorge A Alvarez is board certified in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease. He graduated from the Univ. of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He completed his medical degree at the Univ. of Texas Health Science Cent. at San Antonio. Dr. Jorge Alvarez completed his internship, residency, and fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at UTHSCSA. He was among the first in the region to perform transcatheter aortic valve replacements, a cutting-edge procedure to replace diseased aortic heart valves in patients who are not candidates for open-heart surgery.
