About | Oxford University Museum of Natural History has over seven million current and historical specimens covering the natural environment. It includes five million insects, over half a million fossils, and over 250,000 zoological specimens. The museum also has about 20,000 books, and a collection of around half a million manuscripts are also available. A rare collection of natural history books, journals and documents is located in the Archives and Library, concentrating on topics related to the collections and study of the Museum. One of the most important collections of Middle Jurassic dinosaurs is preserved. The specimens with preserved soft tissues and mysterious fossils describing the earliest multicellular species are included in the palaeontology collections. |
