About | Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life has located on the former Hydrocon Crane factory and the Victorian Summerlee Iron Works. The primary Hydrocon factory building became the museum's exhibition hall, but the museum is continuously developing. It aims to demonstrate the contribution of Lanarkshire to engineering, mining, steelworking, weaving and farming, and to display the lives of the people of the region too. Interactive exhibits, a temporary exhibition area are included, and also has some railway steam locomotives, restored Glasgow Class 311 carriages from the 1960s, and has a shorter operating tram line. Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life is a 22-acre museum that includes two proposed monuments, the Summerlee Iron Works and the Monkland Canal, a large area. The museum welcomes 150,000 visitors a year. It offers free entry for visitors. |
