About | The University Museum of Zoology is home to many recent and fossil animals. Displays trace the evolution of animal life. It is one of the famous highlights in Cambridge, showing thousands of exhibits covering the entire kingdom of animals, from elephants, giant soil sloths and giraffes to birds, reptiles, insects and molluscs. The museum is part of the Department of Zoology of the University of Cambridge and attracts over 75,000 visitors each year. As well as being open for the public to explore and enjoy, they are used for academic study by researchers and students worldwide. There are nearly two million items in the collection, and thousands of these are on display.
