AboutWarrington Transporter Bridge is the world's only remaining bridge used to carry rail wagons. The bridge is a structural steel transporter bridge across the River Mersey in Warrington, Cheshire, England. It is a building listed in the English Heritage At Risk Register for grade 2, so go and see it now as long as you can. The bridge spans 200ft, is 30ft wide, 76ft feet above high water level, with an overall length of 339ft feet. It was initially designed to carry rail vehicles up to 18 tonnes in weight. It was constructed in 1915 and fell into disuse in approximately 1964. Car parking is available.
