About | 'The Haymarket Memorial Clock Tower ' is a significant landmark and popular gathering point. Victorian architect Joseph Goddard designed Haymarket Memorial Clock Tower, who designed some of Leicester's most famous landmarks, including the old Midland Bank building on Granby Street. The tower was built mainly in Ketton stone with a base of Mountsorrel granite and combines column shafts made of polished Peterhead granite and serpentine. Due to its historical significance, the tower was listed as a Grade II building and underwent restoration in 1992. It is located roughly in the centre of the area inside the ring road and is where five major streets meet. |
