AboutGuildhall Museum is a small museum that can be found in Carlisle's only medieval house. The museum is close to the Visitor Centre in the Old Town Hall and only five minutes walk from Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery. The museum displays stocks used for punishing criminals, the chest which kept the city's valuables safe in the Middle Ages, and two bells from the Elizabethan period that were awarded as prizes for horse racing. The Guildhall building is believed to date from the late 14th century. It is one of the four oldest buildings in the city. A private firm occupies the ground floor of the building. Its upper floors project out in the usual fashion of timber-framed structures.
