Thomas Frederick Cooper was born in Caerphilly in 1921. His talent for comedy began while he served with the army in the Second World War when he performed for fellow soldiers. This sculpture is famous for its red tarboosh, and its appearances are large and heavy. It memorialises life a 9 ft bronze statue commissioned by the company Tommy Cooper.
