About | Bolton Town Hall is the most famous city hall built between 1866 and 1873. The building served as the headquarters of the County Borough of Bolton for much of the 20th century. The hall was expanded to Bradshaw, Gass and Hope in the 1930s and was classified by English Heritage as a Grade II* listed building. The original rectangular building is built in the neoclassical style in a temple's shape with a high clock tower in the Baroque style. It also has a high basement storey and two main floors. Bolton Town Hall was the township's administrative centre and contained the court, police station, and lockup. |
