About	The Lamproom Theatre's specific aim is to develop and maintain a community theatre by creating an equitable spectrum of creative activities to benefit and improve local people and visitors' quality of life. The theatre opened its 186 seat auditorium for performances in April 1999. The theatre's recently refurbished auditorium is adorned with miners' lamps, a fitting reminder of South Yorkshire heritage. It has two large public car parks for its visitor's comfort. The Lamproom Theatre hosts a wide range of shows and activities in its extensive space. The core activity of the theatre is to promote and advance theatrical arts within and for the entire community of Barnsley and the surrounding areas.
