About	St Mary's Church is one of the oldest historical churches in Nottingham. The church is a welcoming and student-friendly church in the heart of Nottingham. The church offers Christian worship through traditional and family services, with their acclaimed choir. As well as its civic status, it is also the university church for the University of Nottingham, and several schools and organisations hold annual services here. The current building, well over 500 years old, is considered the third church on the site. It was the town’s most extensive building, used for civic and legal purposes, including the election and swearing-in of the mayor and corporation. In addition to its function as a place of worship, the church is the venue for a wide range of concerts and public performances. The Choir of St Mary's is regarded as one of the best in the region and operates a flourishing choral scholarship scheme for students in full-time education.
