| About | The Okhla Bird Sanctuary is roughly 4 square kilometres in size and is located at the entrance of Noida in the Gautam Budha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. It is located at a point where the river Yamuna enters Uttar Pradesh's state, leaving the territory of Delhi. OBS is one of 15 bird sanctuaries in the state. The bird species of thorny scrub, grassland & wetland are seen in the sanctuary due to its unique positioning. This wetland was created due to the creation of Okhla Barrage. The Uttar Pradesh Government notified The Okhla Bird Sanctuary as Sanctuary in the year 1990. The Okhla Bird Sanctuary is now one of the 466 IBAs (Important Bird Areas) in India. |
