| About | Meenakshi Amman Temple is one of the most famous pilgrimages in South India. The temple is a significant pilgrimage destination dedicated to Meenakshi Devi and Shiva within the Shaivism tradition. The King Thirumalai Naicker played an important role in the construction of the new form of the temple according to records. This architectural masterpiece is the most beautiful example of architecture in Dravidian style. The temple was built during the reign of Pandya, the most important part of the Madurai tour. The Lord was portrayed in his songs as Alavai Iraivan. The temple was restored at the end of the 14th century when the Hindu Kings returned to power in Madurai. Temple Holy Tank was in this pond that the Golden Lotus for Indra to perform his pooja bloomed. This pond is also known as Adhi Theertham, Sivaganga & Uthama Theertham. During the twelve months of the Tamil calendar year, every month there is a festival in the temple. |
