| About | Government Medical College is one of the oldest Medical Colleges in North India and the first one in Srinagar. The college was established in 1959 and is known as GMC Srinagar. They are approved and recognized by the Medical Council of India. Over 4000 doctors have graduated from Government Medical College till now. Around 1000 students have post-graduated from this prestigious institution. They are associated with eight hospitals such as SMHS, Sadar Hospital, G.B Pant, Children Hospital, Lal Ded Maternity Hospital, Psychiatric Diseases Hospital, Chest Diseases Hospital Dalgate, Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla, Chitranjan Mobile Hospital and Superspeciality Hospital. The hospitals are well equipped with nine surgical theatres and delivery rooms. GMC has a well-stocked library with over 18000 books and a subscription of 270 international and national journals and has more than14000 bound journals. |
