| About | Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site is one of the historically intact canneries. The cannery reflects the days when it was British Columbia's leading canned salmon producer. This historical site shows Canada's West Coast fishing industry from the 1870s to the present. The Gulf of Georgia Cannery kept silent in the 1930s. After the Second World War in Europe, the cannery was revitalized by an invasion of new capital and growth in anticipation of a new undertaking. It provides a video that introduces the cannery 30 minutes after the hour. For school groups, special activities are offered, and there are tours to suit each age group and number. Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site offers free admission of youths(17 and under) and society members. |
