About | The Sunnybrook Farm Museum honours Alberta's early days in agriculture. The museums mission is to promote learning about rural life in Central Alberta through preservation, interpretation, and a living farm community. You can find your rural origins by visiting the oldest farm in Red Deer. James Bower arrived in 1899 in search of land to the west. He purchased a half portion of the Saskatchewan Land and Homestead Company and came soon with two railcars full of furniture and his family. The ten acres that now form Sunnybrook Farm Museum contain barns and workshops that the Bowers have set up. Viistors can see the farming equipment from a century ago to the 1950s in the farm buildings and on displays throughout the site. Dedicated volunteers have recovered much of the artifacts. The Sunnybrook Farm Museum's admission is by donation. |
