The arena was first called Aréna Jacques-Cartier and was changed in 1971 by the former hockey star Jean Béliveau. It has 2,400 seats and a gross capacity of 2,600 for standing spaces. Major and Gagno designed the initial plans and finished with the engineering consultants Lalonde, Girouard & Letendre. It was built at the cost of $924,000. The Colisée Jean Béliveau played host to QMJHL hockey for many years. |
