About	George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary is located in the heart of Fraser River Estuary. It consists of almost 300 hectares (850 acres) of managed wetlands, natural marshes and low dykes. It is a perfect location where wildlife and its habitats are safeguarded from harm, and it lies close to miles of flat marshland and Westham Island farmland. The Sanctuary reached its 50th anniversary. George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary is now one of the popular nature viewing areas in southwestern British Columbia's Greater Vancouver metropolitan area. Visitor numbers reached 100,000 in 2019. Over 250 plus species have so far been recorded in the Sanctuary. George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary has a reservation system to access the Sanctuary, and now the picnic area is closed.
