AboutCraigflower Schoolhouse is a famous two-storey timber-framed building located in Saanich (the Schoolhouse) near Victoria. Established in 1854 for the children of nearby Craigflower Farm and the surrounding region by the Colony of Vancouver Island, this school is an essential tribute to British Columbia's early education program, based on the concept of free non-sectarian education for all. It was designated a reputed site for its preserved virtually intact, and it is the oldest surviving school building in Western Canada. The house is an excellent example of early vernacular building construction in the province. Craigflower Schoolhouse is an ideal place to host church meetings and public gatherings.
