AboutDixon House is a single detached rectangular building with a wing attached to the north side. The Dixon house lies in its association with the Dixon family, one of the six original "Colony Settlers" of the Peterborough area. The Dixon family owned the house for over 50 years. The full basement and both building units are constructed of natural stone quarried from nearby Jackson Park. It is one of the few remaining stone houses in Peterborough. The main building has two and a half storeys and the wing one storey. There are four single-stack chimneys, two on the east side and two on the west side. There are four other casement windows on the main building.
