AboutBrig Amity is the oldest Merchant ship built by 148-ton of the brig. It has notable voyages of exploration and settlement in Australia in the 19th century. Visitors can explore the ship, listen to the tale of Amity's perilous 6-week journey from Sydney to King George Sound to set up the first European settlement on the west coast of Australia. The Amity is part of the Museum of the Great Southern site. You can discover the sights and sounds below deck that were experienced by those aboard as they headed for unknown lands, sharing space with the ship’s crew, 21 soldiers, 23 convicts, domestic animals, food crops and building materials to start the little, remote outpost. The helpful volunteer guides assist you in driving your visit, and they are happy to answer any questions.
