AboutQueen Victoria Building is a famous late-nineteenth-century building designed by the architect George McRae situated in Sydney central business district. The building is owned by the City of Sydney and was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register. The building represents an outstanding example of the grand retail establishments of the Victorian-Federation era in Australia and a superb example of the Federation Romanesque style. It holds a special place in the community as a major city landmark for its appearance, imagery, grand interior spaces. The Queen Victoria Building has continued to operate as a market facility for over 190 years, an essential historical continuum. The building has been empathetically restored from its original facade with both Victorian and Art Deco elements. Queen Victoria Building can accommodate nearly 500 people and includes a stage with an elaborately carved proscenium.
