| About | Balyang Sanctuary is 20 acres in size consists of open parkland, lakes and wetlands. The park was preserved as open spaces under the Geelong Planning Scheme in 1959, with the local City of Newtown accountable for purchasing the ground. Negotiations started in 1965. The park provides 150 car parking, public toilets and picnic tables. Several riverside walks and bike paths link the Balyang Sanctuary with other parks along the Barwon River. Visitors can enjoy canoeing, walking, and jogging. Visitors can also start the walk along the Barwon River from this location. |
