| About | St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Cathedral is one of the famous churches in Darwin city. The church was built to serve the community after the war when it became necessary to create a more massive structure. The church mission is to offer people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to deepen their understanding and relationship with Jesus Christ. St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Cathedral's construction was designed and implemented by Ian Ferrier. The first stone of the church was taken from Rum Jungle, a uranium mine site. After years, the construction was completed and officially opened in 1962. The church is also the seat of the bishop of the Diocese of Darwin. They bring awareness about God’s existence to people and help them to learn their faith. St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Cathedral establishment holds a rich history and heritage which dates back to the late 19th century. |
