About	St Patrick's Cathedral is one of the oldest historical churches in Ballarat. The church was designed by the local architect's Shaw and Dowden. The church's design is based on a design from English architect Charles Hansom. It was built with a mission to serve the local Catholic community people. St Patrick's Cathedral's foundation stone was laid in 1858, but the masses were celebrated in 1863 even before the church's opening. After years, the construction was completed, and the church was officially opened in 1871. The church offers the initiation of children into the sacramental life of the Church. They also provide support to families in faith formation. The church demonstrates notable decorative schemes, particularly its highly decorated ceiling, which parallels other church halls in Victoria. St Patrick's Cathedral is one of the world's most popular Apostles of Ireland.
